New Computer

I got a new computer the other day.  It's a Macbook Pro.  I like it, but I don't love it, yet.  I'm still trying to get acclimated.  I was told that I'll love it because it's keyboard shortcut friendly, and I've always been a fan of those.  Of course, Safari just crashed on me, so that doesn't seem all that different from my PC.  At least I'm cool now.  JM

Ownership

Owning stuff is so much better than just being able to use it. I don't own my computer, my church does. So on Sunday when somebody needed to use a laptop for a program at the church, my laptop was volunteered. That means that somebody I didn't know was using it for some purpose that I didn't know. What's even more annoying is that I couldn't get my computer back until 10:00 this morning. I was without it for 24 hours.
In reality that's not long at all, but it's amazing how much you can miss something. Makes me wish I owned my computer, or any computer at all. Maybe when I'm rich I'll go buy one. JM

Addicted

Sometimes I think I'm addicted to my computer. I'm not like a geeky tech-head or anything like that, but I really like being able to access information. On Wednesday nights my boss borrows my computer and since he ends his program after I'm gone, I don't get it back until Thursday morning. So Wednesday nights I always think of things that I want to look up and research, or learn about, or satisfy my curiosity, but I am unable to because the magic of the internet does not run into my house without my laptop. I'm okay without it, but I really enjoy having it. JM

New Tricks

The problem with learning new things is that even though the end result may lead to something better and/or more efficiently produced, to learn it takes time. Probably more time to learn that it would be to produce the original way. Subsequent times would be faster and/or better, but it's all about sucking it up for that first time.
I just installed Windows Vista and am struggling to use it. It's frustrating. I'm also about to install Office 2007 and InDesign CS2. So lots of frustrations in the near forecast. JM
